If you're looking for a great meal and a little mariachi music to go along with it, head to Serenata Mexican Bar and Grill in Palm Desert.

Serenata owner Ariel de la Rosa is a fourth generation mariachi musician with a passion for the rich flavors of Mexico. He not only oversees the restaurant but also performs with the mariachi band.

Seafood lovers will have plenty to choose from on the menu, including one of the most popular items, the Camarones Ixtapa. It's juicy jumbo shrimp sautéed in olive oil and garlic and topped with tomatillo salsa. It's served with a generous portion of seasonal vegetables and comes with Mexican rice, your choice of black, refried or pinto beans, a small soup or salad and tortillas.

Serenata serves up a generous helping of vegetarian dishes including tacos, burritos and fajitas.

Try the enchiladas vegetarians, brimming with carrots, zucchini, jicama, broccoli and spinach in a rich tomatillo salsa and smothered with melted Monterey jack and sour cream.

Save money while enjoying great appetizers from 3-7 p.m. daily. At the bar, enjoy $3 margaritas and half-price appetizers.

And, if you like to shake your castanets, be sure to stop in on Saturdays for Havana Night. Join the party on the dance floor or relax and sip one of the specialty drinks.
