Jake’s owners originally envisioned their place as a gourmet take-out store but quickly realized they could do a good trade by also providing attractive seating. They created a pretty little eating area in the small courtyard and transformed the even smaller front section of the store into a rather elegant lounge with tables and a view of the mountains. Locals drop in for very tasty sandwiches (try the fresh turkey with cranberry orange relish, cheddar cheese topped with a chipotle aioli on a ciabatta roll or the roast pork loin with white wine poached pear, crumbles of gorgonzola cheese on a Milano roll), salads (Nicoise salad with Ahi tuna, Caprese salad) and specials. The crab cakes, meatloaf and four-cheese macaroni and cheese all go fast when they are on the menu. At night the courtyard and the interior is bathed in romantic candle light and the bar starts to get lively (there is a small bar menu). The dinner menu offers a la carte selections (the Two Way Tuna, filet mignon and rack of lamb are best sellers) and there is a three course special. Don’t miss Sunday brunch with their Croque Benedict, eggs in purgatory Cobb Salad, and lots more! Special menus can be arranged for special occasions. The patio or indoors or the entire restaurant can be reserved for private parties.
