God I was a huge Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate fan in the '90s. I'm a tad happier now. :) ha

Cap'n Jazz: proof that once upon a time, emo kids didn't wear guyliner
Contrary to what you may have overheard at Warped Tour, emo (aka "emocore," "emotional hardcore" or "that whiny stuff your kid sister listens to while she's LiveJournaling") has a long, proud tradition that stretches back much further than My Chemical Romance. Last year, two of the bands most responsible for that legacy announced major reunion tours in support of deluxe reissues of their best albums: Seattle’s Sunny Day Real Estate and Kansas City’s Get Up Kids. And this summer, Chicago proto-emo legends Cap'n Jazz (pictured) are getting in on the reunion action. Is this the beginning of an old-school emo resurgence?
