Tony Bennett, 'The Classic Christmas Album'
Michael Bublé made a great Christmas album, but the kid needs to step aside for the sensai. Bennett's latest—a collection of his most famous Christmas songs from decades past—hits all the right marks for a crooner holiday album. Selections from past holiday collections serve as touchstones for the singer's storied career; there's some classic Bennett, with selections like "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song" from his 1968 holiday LP, and some more jazzy takes on archetypal tracks, like "Silver Bells" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas," from 2008's "A Swingin' Christmas." In all, "The Classic Christmas Album" is just that—and a worthy addition to a holiday playlist, even if there's some overlap. –LM
