Only two years after his "Dark Knight" co-star Heath Ledger won a posthumous award for Best Supporting Actor, Bale was accepting the trophy himself and delivering a gracious and good-humored speech. Poking gentle fun at co-star Melissa Leo and his own hot-tempered past, he joked, "I'm not gonna drop the F-bomb like [Melissa] did. I've done that plenty before."
He went on to direct people to the website of the man he portrayed in "The Fighter," DickEklund.com. And it may have seemed like Bale momentarily forgot his own wife's name when he started to thank her, but it was pretty clear by that point emotions had overcome the Dark Knight.
