From 'Titanic' to 'The Departed,' 10 great roles from the 'Shutter Island' star

Though he’s only 35 years old, Leonardo DiCaprio’s career boasts more major accomplishments than many actors twice his age. He’s a sitcom veteran (his first big break was “Growing Pains”), the star of one of the highest-grossing movies ever (“Titanic”), a heartthrob whose intense popularity predated the “Twilight” phenomenon, a passionate environmental activist, a three-time Academy Award nominee, and heir to Robert De Niro’s long-held position as Martin Scorsese’s leading man of choice.
Most importantly, DiCaprio’s a hell of an actor, as reliable and diverse as any star-level performer working today. In his latest collaboration with Scorsese, the Gothic detective thriller “Shutter Island,” he stretches again to play a federal marshal in ‘50s Boston investigating a prisoner’s disappearance from a maximum-security, island-based institution for the criminally insane.
Before seeing DiCaprio add film noir antihero to his roster of roles, take a look back at his 10 best performances thus far.
