This is a very dated listing. Boscoso closed at least three years ago or more. A most excellent restaurant/bar named TRIO is there now.

The lease was up in 2011 and they didn't renew it. The Palm Springs restaurant in Smoke Tree Shopping Center just reopened after a major renovation.

I would estimate I dine there once a week. There is a large problem with consistancy. One of my favorites is the burrito de chile relleno. Never Again! The chile relleno was filled with the "Nacho cheese Sauce" used in the nacho chips w/ cheese. It is an artificial "Cheese Wizz" or liquid cheese food like Velveta. I can eat refritos w/ lard. I can eat fatty flap meat but fake cheese sauce in the chile relleno? McDonald's is right next door!

The French Corner Cafe and Bakery is just wonderful. It is very nice, casual, good food and nice staff. But the most outstanding part is the amazing selection of the most beautiful pastry I have ever seen in this contry. The only time I have ever seen anything to compare is in Paris - at Fauchon. The chef is properly French and very nice. I love it!

Dare612 wrote about The Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs

First I want the reader to know that I am a professional in the design and construction of a major Southern California 3000 seat performing arts center. My involvement was from steel coming out of the ground to grand opening and then 2 years, as Director, of 'Front of House' operations. My critique of the 'Special Events Center' is based upon my life experience with a 'world class' facility. The evening of September 22, 2012 was my first time to experience this not-so-Special facility. From the first few lyrics sung I was dumb founded at how poor the audio in the hall was; you could not understand Daryl speaking, let alone the song lyrics. We were in good seats, elevated on stage left in the hall and there was so much base that mid-range and up was literally muffled out; sure it was loud, but that is not the point when you pay to hear a vocal group sing. The sound reproduction in this hall is below substandard to any 'cheaply built' performance facility; believe me I have visited facilities around the world and this is the worst facility I have ever experienced. On top of this... About 10 minutes into the Hall & Oates, whom I have enjoyed since the first songs they sung back in the 70's the power on the stage went out. No backup generator to support the band...30+ minutes later, after many left, the show resumed. I give full praise to Hall & Oates and the band for busting out and a longer than anticipated encore, but you still could not understand the lyrics! I talked with a guest who was 'down front' and she commented that it was so loud, so much base it was hard to follow the lyrics... I trust that quality vocalists will not play this venue again...I know that last night will be my first and LAST visit to Fantasy Springs...the sound on Pandora over my lap top is much superior to this facility! All the best to all! Dare

I had the WORSE service in 55 years. Had to ask for a tea refill twice, baked potato came with 6 toppings which I did not request so I gave the potato back. The server NEVER asked if he could replace it. The steak was NOT prepared as requested twice. Finally just gave up and paid my bill and left a .o1 tip .!!!!

I'll never go here again. Not because of the rude, slow, and forgetful waitress. Nor will I not return because of the subpar fare and exorbitant pricing. I will save my pennies and eat elsewhere because when the rudeness of the server was brought to the attention of the OWNER, the owner made excuses for the server and did nothing to help us enjoy the rest of our meal. There are a many better places to eat in this little down....

silviayps wrote about Jake's Ready to Eat

It is very disappointing to have to express our embarrassment of the treatment we received by either the manager or owner (not sure which) of Jake’s this evening – after what had been a very pleasant and enjoyable dinner. We went on a dinner date with another couple from out of town. When they asked where we recommended to go, we gave them three choices of our local favorites – Melvyn’s, The Falls and Jake’s. After they looked online they selected Jake’s and we eagerly anticipated dining with them. From the moment we arrived, and throughout the dinner, everything was great. Our food was delicious, our waiter attentive and gracious. However, after dessert, while engaging in after-dinner discussion, an older man – whether he was a manager or owner we do not know – began to make body gestures to the husband of our friend as if suggesting for us to leave. Since my back was to this person, I didn’t see what was occurring, but noticed our friend’s anxiety. When we asked him what was bothering him, he said “I think he’s trying to get us to leave.” Within seconds of his comment the older man came up to our table, retrieved some plates, and simply stated “We need you to leave this table.” We were dumbfounded! Before we could respond he left. So we called him back to express our surprise of his comments. He then stated that we had been late for our reservation, being restaurant week they were busy, and since their policy was 2 hours per table we needed to leave. He then condescendingly stated “Put yourselves in the place of the people at the bar waiting for your table.” Of course we responded that his argument made no sense, we had not been lates and never was a 2 hour policy explained upon our arrival. Simply had he stated to us, in a cordial manner, if we wouldn’t mind taking our conversation to the bar in order to make room for other guests – we would have gladly acquiesced. Nonetheless, we still left upon his request, but completely humiliated after having been blamed for causing the delay. We are Palm Springs locals and completely support our local businesses. Jake’s was one of our top recommendations for our friends. In addition we have travelled throughout the country and around the world – NEVER HAVE WE BEEN ASKED TO LEAVE A RESTAURANT!!! To have been told to do so in such a rude fashion was beyond comprehension. We arrived as loyal local supporters of Jake’s – but to be insensitively dismissed as guests that have outstayed their invitation – it made it very clear to us that our support for Jake's was completely irrelevant. It was the MOST HUMILIATING EXPERIENCE we have ever had at a restaurant and will never return.

Maxsdad wrote about Las Carretas Taco Shop # 1

There is no consistency to the quality of the food, and you must physically inspect each order to make sure they have it right. One time the meal will be good, and the next time a cheese enchilada will consist of a block of warm, unmelted cheese coated with dry lettuce or a shredded beef enchilada that's less 'shredded' beef and more meat paste and canned sauce. When it's done right, it's better than Del Taco, but literally half the time the order's wrong or the food is so poor that microwaved hotdogs are a better alternative. We HAD been eating there every other week, not any more. It's just not worth the frustration or the attitude of them feeling that they're doing US a favor by feeding us. BTW, their receipt says they're Las Carretas Taco Shop #2, store #1 is on Washington St.
