gkpoynter wrote about Arnold Palmer's Restaurant

This is a letter I wrote to the managers regarding my recent experience at this restaurant. If you are not hispanic be very careful what you say to the staf or in our case what you don't say. Tonight my husband and I went to your restaurant. We had ordered a few drinks in the bar. Your M.O.D. approached us and accused my husband of being racist and speaking Spanish to your waitress and we were thrown out. Number one my husband does not speak Spanish at all, the only thing he knows how to say is check please and he only uses that when we're in Mexico. We were wrongly accused of being racist and believe me you have messed with the wrong person. Your staff can not wrongly accuse someone of being racist and get away with it. This was a very embarrassing moment for myself, my husband and the couple we were with. Sandra and Bo handled this matter very poorly. And believe me, we will never return and neither will any of our friends.

What?...No Village Pub downtown Palm Springs.=) We serve food until 2 a.m. We have LIVE MUSIC and DANCING 7 Nights a week, 3 bars including an outdoor bar for smokers, pool tables, and DJs Spinning in THE LOFT upstairs every Friday and Saturday night! We have been a part of the community of Palm Springs for the last 13 years and cater to locals, and tourists alike. =) Just curious to know why we did not rank in the top 12? Please let me know. Thanks again Metro Mix for your support. Hope to see you soon. -Betty www.blog.palmspringsvillagepub.com/

For all you people who were born and raised th the Coachella Valley who constantly say how boring it is to grow up in the CV, Wake Up! You now have a watering hole that is LA to the Bone! The Amigo Room! Growing up in LA/OC in the late 80's and 90's we were lucky enough to have Hollywood watering holes like "Smalls" and "3 Clubs" pre-Swingers when it was just one room. The Amigo Room brings back some great hollywood memories. They also have plenty of Hollywood Celebs hanging out and drinking at the Amigo Room. So get off your A$$ and check it out and stop compaining about having nothing to do in the CV! Dig That!

monkeysee commented on Shortfest Gay!La Party

You should attend an event before reviewing it. If you would have, you might have noticed it was held at a gay club in support of gay themed short film makers. True that not everything about the shorfest is gay in which case I would advise you to create a celebration of whatever you choose during this time, at any venue of your liking (or church if you must, I'm guessing there is more to your 'review' than short films) Regardless, chill out and enjoy life and let others do the same.

Cool spot to hang out on a Sunday, good vibes and friendly people. Just be wary of the outdoor bartenders and their fluctuating drink prices since there is no indication of how much anything costs to begin with.

lonepalm7 commented on Shortfest Gay!La Party

Gay!la Party????? Who decided to make the social end of the Palm Springs Short Film Fest is a homosexual celebration? Believe it or not, this is discriminatory. Heterosexuals could never do the same.. Why do homosexual activists insist upon injecting sexual orientation into a public gathering? Are some groups more equal than others? After all, most of the Short Fest contributors are heterosexual. This is likely true of the event's attendees as well. Isn't the fact that there exist separate (and exclusive) awards for gay and lesbian filmmakers enough? Why the obnoxious quest for gay supremacy? This underhanded attempt to put a homosexual stamp on a cultural event is another unhealthy effort to indoctrinate and intimidate. It deserves to be rejected. Is it any wonder that most Californians are deeply suspicious of 'Gay Liberation'? Practice what you preach. Reject double-standards. Resist gay supremacy.

Tummy Rose as MC - drag queens galore- stupid, loud, blaring, constantly repeated 10 seconds excuse for music - so, so food . . . ...personally more like a white party than chamber event - I'm sure others found it "offensive" , lacking culture & class / noise pollution w/speakers everywhere -no where to get away from the noise - started out as Brazilian Mardi Gras & gradually turned into " yuk "

TheShow wrote about The Show at Agua Caliente

The much anticipated opening of The Show at Agua Caliente Casino proved to be well worth the wait. The sound is amazing, the seating is excellent, and the line-up of performers is among the best in the Valley. I attended the Melissa Etheridge concert and despite her performing solo, with only her guitar or piano, the sound was crisp, clear and at the perfect level. I would recommend The Show to those folks who expect the very best in entertainment. I'm picky, and I loved it!
