Each year, some of the biggest names in Hollywood converge on the valley for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. The way things are already shaping up for 2009, things won't be changing much.
First, child star Dakota Fanning was announced as the Rising Star recipient for this year, and award taken home by Emile Hirsch in 2008.
Then, Anne Hathaway was revealed as the winner of the Desert Palm Achievement Award for acting for her stand-out performance in “Rachel Getting Married.”
While the gala itself is a black tie affair, boasting high priced tickets, film fans have a chance to see these celebrities up close and in person if they stop by the bleachers outside the Convention Center. Also, they have access to video of the gala on our sister site, MyDesert.com
