The Look: Palm Desert’s brand new pub and eatery, located inside the former South Beach location, is your one-way ticket to Ireland-without actually having to leave the Valley. Missing is the giant dance floor and long-stretching bar that hugged the near the entrance and the pond which sat behind the back patio has been replaced by a multiple-hole putting green.
An area once filled with awkward sofas and booths now features expansive table seating, surrounded by no less than two dozen large flat screen TVs - and we’re told more boob tubes are on the way.
The massive wooden bar, located at the center of the establishment is also surrounded by flat-screen TVs, making it the perfect place to grab a beer and watch the big game.
The dimly lit Tilted Kilt, which were told is home of the UFC, also offers patrons pool tables, video games and enough scantily clad wait staff to satisfy an eye candy craving for months to come. (If naughty Catholic school girl is your thing, than this is your place. )
The Food: The pub offers an eclectic blend of American, Irish and Scottish fare that transcends traditional sports-bar items. Sandwiches, wraps, burgers and pizza are all menu staples, in addition to steamed clams, shepherd’s pie and house salads. A minimal desert menu is also available, but we doubt you’ll want anything other than “The Tilted Guilt,” a gooey chocolate chip cookie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with warm chocolate sauce. It’s far from healthy, but so good it doesn’t really matter.
The Drinks: The Tilted Kilt features a laundry list of beer on tap, including Dead Guy Ale, Stella Artois, Smithwick’s Irish Ale and Blackthorn Cider. Special Irish-inspired cocktails are hot items, such as The Celtic Crush, a blend of Absolute Orange, Peach Schnapps, Triple Sec, orange juice and sweet and sour. Wine and specialty shots are also available.
The Bottom line: This Pub’s relaxed atmosphere combined with a hearty menu and a wide assortment of draft beer will definitely leave locals hungry for more.
